Alexandre Borborema is a Managing Director of the Investment Banking practice at Apex Partners, the Brazilian member firm of Cognos, with extensive experience in mergers & acquisitions, capital markets, and corporate strategy across Brazil, Latin America and Europe.

Experience

With nearly two decades in consulting and investment banking, Alexandre Borborema has built a distinguished track record advising private and publicly held companies on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and debt transactions across a broad range of sectors.

Alexandre is a partner and Managing Director at Apex Partners, an investment bank uniquely positioned as Brazil’s first focused on regional markets. In this role, he leads the firm’s Investment Banking practice, concentrating on M&A advisory and capital markets.

Prior to Apex Partners, Alexandre held senior roles at two of the world’s leading professional services firms. At PwC Brazil, he served as a Director in the Corporate Finance and Investment Banking practice, advising Brazilian and international clients on complex financial transactions. Earlier in his career, he worked at EY in the United Kingdom, where he focused on corporate strategy, business planning and M&A, gaining an international perspective on cross-border transactions and strategic advisory.

Education

Alexandre holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), one of Brazil’s most prestigious research universities. He subsequently earned an MSc in Business Studies from Aston Business School, Birmingham, United Kingdom — a programme for which he was awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship, funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and granted to outstanding emerging leaders from around the world.

Life drives and passions

Beyond banking, Alexandre is passionate about philosophy, literature and writing. He plays guitar and finds creative balance between the analytical rigour of finance and the humanities. An avid traveller, he draws inspiration from different cultures and perspectives. Alexandre is based in the city of Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil
