Quantum Partners, German member firm of Cognos Global Partners, acted as exclusive M&A advisor to the two founding managers of the company.
Germany’s energy sector is facing a dual transformation pressure. On the one hand, digitalisation and automation are accelerating expectations around efficiency and data quality. On the other hand, new regulatory requirements and structural shifts, including the expansion of renewable generation, increased adoption of electric vehicles and the smart meter roll-out, are driving continuous changes to highly complex IT landscapes. The growing shortage of skilled professionals further limits many companies’ ability to deliver these transformation programs at the required pace using internal resources alone.
In this environment, specialized advisors have become a critical success factor, particularly for large-scale IT transformation projects and the subsequent process implementation. With the upcoming migration wave to SAP S/4HANA and a continued increase in industry complexity, demand for such services is expected to increase further. This dynamic is also shaping M&A activity in the IT services sector, which continues to attract both strategic buyers and private equity investors.
Hochfrequenz is a team of around 120 IT and process experts focused on advising energy utilities across the German-speaking region. Following several years of strong and profitable growth, the managing shareholders sought the right partner to support the company’s next phase of expansion. In a highly competitive M&A process, Munich-based private equity investor EMERAM prevailed. Together with EMERAM, hochfrequenz plans to further strengthen its advisory and delivery capabilities, advance its digital solutions and accelerate organic growth. The two founders will remain invested in the business and continue to lead the company as Managing Directors.
