DOUMER Group

The DOUMER Group continues to expand with the acquisition of GECAPE, a specialist in PVC waterproofing in the Oise region of France.

GECAPE is a family business founded in 1976 that offers technical solutions for waterproofing buildings, specialising in PVC membranes. This specialisation has enabled the company to find a stable and profitable market for a more technical product than bituminous membranes. The company supports its customers in building waterproofing and thermal insulation rehabilitation work. It caters for a diverse customer base of manufacturers, local authorities and tertiary sector businesses. GECAPE has sales of around €5.5m and a team of around thirty qualified employees.

With this deal, the DOUMER Group is rounding out its business offering to treat macro-lots, in this case moving towards treating all types of roof by combining DOUMER Couverture’s skills and those of GECAPE in waterproofing.

The DOUMER Group currently employs 80 people in 4 fast-growing companies, each specialising in a particular trade: roofing, metalwork, plumbing and flooring.

The companies in the DOUMER Group are all organised around the same model: a contractor-engineer leads a team of 20 to 40 people. This size makes for a strong collective, in which every employee, every customer and every worksite counts.

The acquisition of GECAPE confirms the deployment of the DOUMER Group’s strategy:
– Recognised technical expertise to expand the offering to its existing macro-lot customers
– The opportunity to improve the organisation of the company and its worksites, so as to build better for the future
– The Group’s discovery of industrial customers who may be interested in its other business lines

Cognos France were mandated exclusively by GECAPE’s shareholders to find a new shareholder willing to support the Company’s next phase of development. This transaction is in line with Cognos’ strong expertise in the construction and public works sector.
